We are currently searching for an experienced and highly analytical Quality Engineer to join our Equipment Manufacturing Quality Department. The Quality Engineer designs, implements, and evaluates quality assurance process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques. Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment. Analyzes production and service limitations and standards. Recommends revision of specifications. Formulates or helps formulate quality assurance policies and procedures. May conduct training on quality assurance concepts and tools. Interfaces with all other engineering functions within an organization and with customers and suppliers on quality-related issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Build product knowledge to develop or improve product specifications, identify potential failure modes, assess root cause, improve product performance, and drive risk management. Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing processes, and evaluation.
  • Apply statistical process control (SPC) and other statistical methods of analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes to ensure that customer and internal requirements are met.
  • Compile technical data and other key process information to determine product/process specifications and establish baselines. 
  • Devise sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
  • Ability to effectively define problems through data analysis, propose workable solutions to minimize defects and waste.
  • Ability to define and work on data driven six sigma type projects. Determine statistical process capabilities and implement process control systems designed to improve consistency, product yield, quality, and throughput rates.
  • Read engineering drawings, plans, and specifications to understand the requirements of parts/ products and services.
  • Perform regular quality assessments on all incoming materials from vendors and outgoing products for shipping.
  • Perform regular product evaluations, record inspection results, and recommend improvements to the production process to ensure quality control.
  • Measure product dimensions examine functionality and compare the final product to the specifications.
  • Exhibit teamwork and self-management
  • Follow the attendance policy of the Department
  • Follow all safety procedures and policies
  • Work overtime, flexible schedules, and weekends as required

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a Quality related position in a manufacturing environment
  • At least 1 year of hands on experience with mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and under the pressure of deadlines.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and sense of urgency to respond to issues.
  • Knowledge of Quality Core Tools (FMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC)
  • Ability to travel 20%, including on weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds or greater.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in an equipment engineer-to-order and assemble-to-order manufacturing environment
  • Experience with a QMS
  • Possess an ASQ or equivalent certification
  • Experience in a mass production inspection environment.
  • Experience implementing SPC and/or six-sigma concepts.
  • Knowledge of best practices for the Quality Assurance function in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with quality tools such as CMM or other measuring systems.
  • Certification in quality control
