We are currently searching for an experienced and highly analytical QMS Engineer to join our Equipment Manufacturing Quality Department. As the QMS Engineer, you will conduct product, process and system audits.  The chosen candidate will perform regular gap analysis and risk assessments and recommend improvements to the production process and QMS. To excel in this role, applicants should demonstrate great ability to respond, diagnose, and resolve multiple quality issues simultaneously while communicating relevant information with all stakeholders.

·       Assist in the development and maintenance of quality management system/ISO, etc.

·       Assure cross functional teams and quality assurance and quality engineering follows the frame work of ISO.

·       Assist cross functional team to drive corrective action effectiveness for internal and external issues.

·       Responsible for documentation control system and execution of internal and external audits

·       Train and educate cross functional team on the auditing process, documenting audit results and drive close loop actions.

·       Write and create documents for the quality function and help cross functional teams to documentation

·       Lead management review meeting in accordance with QMS/ISO requirements.

·       Drive quality/QMS initiatives to bring awareness on latest in the QMS/ISO world.

·       Work with quality and other cross functional team in monitoring compliance to QMS and close loop actions.

·       Facilitate QMS/ISO training to leadership and other members of the organization as needed.

·       Drive calibration of assets and recall charts to ensure compliance in quality metrology.

·       Work cross functionally with internal and external teams/contacts to solve problems and determine root cause to resolution. 

·       Work and collaborate with diverse groups of internal, cross-functional teams to solve problems

·       Is Self-Managed and able to be productive with minimal guidance.

·       Recommend improvements to the production process to ensure quality.

·       Document audit outcomes by completing detailed reports and performance records.

·       Teach the production team about quality concerns to improve product excellence.

·       Resolve quality-related issues with a sense of urgency and in a timely manner.

·       Encourage an environment of teamwork and convey the concepts of the Laitram Business Philosophy with the department.

·       Assess quality performance and develop strategic plans, processes, and metrics to improve performance.

·       Performs a variety of complicated Quality Assurance tasks.

·       May be assigned medium to large sized projects to accomplish independently

·       May work closely with and direct Quality and Manufacturing associates to complete projects

·       Relies on and creates instructions and establishes guidelines to perform the functions of the job

·       Good attitude in stressful situations


·       High school diploma or equivalent qualification and 3-5 years of experience OR Undergraduate degree in a technical or quantitative field

·       Certification in Quality is preferred.

·       Quality auditor or lead auditor certification a plus

·       A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.

·       Hands on experience with mechanical systems

·       Excellent knowledge of MS Office

·       Good math and technical skills.

·       Experience working in a Quality Assurance role

·       Strong problem-solving and project management skills

·       Strong understanding of quality standards and testing techniques.

·       Ability to work in a dynamic environment and under the pressure of deadlines

·       Possess a strong attention to detail

·       Willing to work overtime and on weekends as required

·       Willing and able to perform a variety of tasks in support of short- and long-term goals of the Manufacturing division

·       Travel to vendors and customer sites overnight stay may be required

·       Functional knowledge of statistics

·       Able to lift 50lbs

Desired Qualifications:

·       Experience in an equipment engineer-to-order and assemble-to-order manufacturing environment

·       Possess an ASQ or equivalent certification

·       Experience in a mass production inspection environment

·       Experience implementing SPC and/or Lean Six-Sigma concepts

·       Experience in or aptitude for Quality

·       Knowledge of best practices for the Quality Assurance function in a Manufacturing environment

·       Experience with quality tools such as CMM or other measuring systems.
