Mechanical Engineer - Integration
Intralox, L.L.C., the world leader in conveyor equipment solutions utilizing modular plastic conveyor belts, has a position available for a Mechanical Engineer on our Integration Engineering Team in the Maryland office.
The Integration team specializes in turnkey material handling solutions for the postal & parcel industry. The team works closely with customers to determine their needs and then design, engineer, manufacture, assemble, install, commission, train and support conveyance and sortation solutions. Integration Mechanical Engineers will be familiar with a variety of industrial machine design concepts, develop documents needed to manufacture, assemble, install, and commission systems, and perform a variety of complicated continuous improvement tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The engineer will report to the Engineering Manager – ETO Integration.

Responsibilities
- Design system layouts according to application requirements & customer facility constraints.
- Design equipment according to application specifications, customer requirements, and within operational timelines.
- Applies engineering principles and practices in design, development, analysis, and release of projects including but not limited to:
o Conveyor design (conventional flat belt & modular plastic belt)
o Auxiliary equipment design (discharge chutes, control stations, operator & machine platforms, etc.)
o Electrical wire routing design
o System point load calculation
o Equipment safety & risk assessments
- Prepare detailed equipment assembly drawings, system installation drawings, and other project documentation as required per project.
- Support equipment installation & start-up and assist with troubleshooting field issues, sometimes at a customer site.
- Collaborates and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to fulfill project requirements.
- Identifies and prioritizes continuous improvement opportunities and works with the product development teams to implement them.
- Develops knowledge, becoming a subject matter expert (SME) within the engineering department with respect to design fundamentals, product, and systems.
- Build in-depth understanding of Intralox Activated Roller Belt Technology.
Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Proficient at creating detailed part, weldment, assembly, and installation drawings. Autodesk Inventor and sheet metal design experience preferred but not required.
- Proficient with using measuring devices, tools, and reading and understanding electrical schematics, P&ID, and mechanical drawings.
- Proficient with commonly used GD&T concepts.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD. Knowledge of programming languages is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A self-managed individual who is a team player.
- Must be able to meet the functional job requirements of the job including being able to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders occasionally.
- Travel required (10-15%) for equipment installation, start-up or troubleshooting often taking place on weekends and holidays to meet customer scheduling requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Autodesk Inventor experience, especially in sheet metal design
- Industrial machine design, conveyor equipment design experience preferred
- AutoCAD experience especially related to plant layouts
- Familiarity with using Solidworks PDM or Windchill PLM
- Familiarity with OSHA, NEC, IBC and ANSI / ASME specifications as they relate to conveyor system design
