Laitram, L.L.C., is seeking an Environmental Service Manager to join the Corporate Facilities Management and Engineering Department team on our Harahan campus.  Reporting to Director of Facilities, this position will develop and oversee the newly formed of  Environmental Services staff to ensure that assigned areas are properly cleaned and maintained with high regards to infection control, quality and safety. The Manager also assumes responsibility for environmental equipment, control of supplies, and counseling of employees. Responsible for making decisions regarding staffing of EVS personnel for appropriate shift to ensure adequate coverage. Completes performance reviews in a timely manner and administers corrective action.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership, supervision and direction to EVS employees for daily operations development and management of programs and processes that provide safe, effective and efficient operational support.
  • Develops and implements hygiene protocols to ensure infection control guidelines.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining quality assurance program. Performing audits, autonomous inspections & interviews department leadership on a daily and weekly basis, as well as administrative inspections.
  • Managing a stock control and ordering system to ensure availability of stock and cost control to maintain costs to a minimum.
  • Works on special projects and committees at the request of the Director of Facilities, as well as any other duties as assigned.
  • Respond to customer's requests and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job-related hazards, and industrial/manufacturing safety goals.
  • Assist or be directly responsible for off-site locations operations as assigned by Director of Facilities.
  • Manage contractors and vendors to ensure safe, high quality, dependable, efficient and cost-effective operations are maintained.
  • Hires and maintains a high-performance team and uses LCI to accomplish continuous improvement   for EVS staff. Provides appropriate direction and guidance to improve performance as needed.
  • Ensure positive collaboration and communications are maintained between service departments, customers, visitors, employees and leadership.
  • Rigorously maintains records/documentation
  • Responsible for monitoring the department performance, reporting on performance measures, evaluating employees’ performance, and coaching to promote individual improvement.
  • Ensures effective training and development for employees.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates or bachelor's degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in management/supervisory position with responsibilities for Environmental Services, Laundry/Linen management and/or Healthcare Services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish the goals of the plant and corporation
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office and other technology to enhance operational effectiveness
  • Registered/Certified Executive Housekeeper (REH/CEH) and/or Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) preferred.
