  • Involvement in the complete new product development process from problem definition to product release including:

    • Voice of Customer
    • Concept Brainstorms
    • Design Reviews
    • Development of Virtual and Physical Prototypes
    • Prototype Evaluation
    • Field Testing and Customer Feedback
    • Design Refinement
    • Manufacturing Integration
  • Development of new applications including:
    • Definition of performance specifications
    • Prototype evaluation as necessary
    • Test plan development and execution
    • Equipment Design (retrofit components to complete machines)
    • Fabrication and Performance Testing
    • Applicable user documentation including software
    • Training of internal technical support resources 
  • Provide technical assistance to sales account managers and customers by phone, via written correspondence and webcasts and in person at customer facilities
  • Work with a project manager to develop a timeline, ensure projects stay within budget and develop good test plans along with the end user customer to evaluate new solutions
  • Understand and identify the economic drivers for a customer’s decision and be able to think through the customer’s concerns
  • Support both field test installations and internal testing to validate new applications
  • Develop production design and support documentation for all products to be released
  • Integration of product design requirements with production requirements


  • B. S. or M. S. in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering curriculum (i.e. controls or electrical with an interest in mechanical work)
  • Solid Modeling experience in SolidWorks®, Pro-E®, or similar software
  • Experience in 2D CAD
  • Hands on individual with experience in design, fabrication and troubleshooting of mechanical components/strong mechanical aptitude
  • Preference given to candidates with project management and test development
  • Experience designing, testing and supporting installations of new applications
  • Experience writing support documentation/manuals and training materials
  • Must be a self-managed, hard-working, self-motivated individual
  • Must function well in a group structure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Outlook
  • Some travel required
