Introduction

The objective of this project is to design an efficient extension of the existing production hall, focusing on optimizing logistical operations. This design will enhance material flow, improve organizational structure, and implement effective visual management strategies.

1. Routing and Material Flow

• Flow Analysis: Conduct a thorough analysis of the current material flow to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Utilize flowcharts to visualize the movement of materials from receiving, storage, production up until shipping the product.

• Routing Design: Establish clear pathways for both inbound and outbound materials. Consider dedicated routes for forklifts and pedestrian traffic to minimize congestion and enhance safety.

3. Visual Management

  • Signage and Labels: Use clear signage to guide personnel through the warehouse. Implement color-coded labels for different zones (e.g., receiving, storage, shipping) to enhance visibility and organization.

4. Space Allocation and Layout

Space Planning: Determine the optimal layout for the warehouse extension. Consider the following:
  • Pallet Spaces: Calculate the number of pallet spaces required based on inventory turnover rates and storage needs.

  • Racking Systems: Choose appropriate racking systems (e.g., selective, drive-in, or pallet flow racks) based on the types of products stored and accessibility requirements.

  • Workstations: Designate areas for packing, sorting, and quality control to streamline operations.

Conclusion

The proposed design for the logistical flow for the new expansion aims to create a highly efficient and organized space that supports the assembly process. By focusing on routing, system setup, visual management, and effective space allocation, this project will enhance productivity and contribute to the overall success of the facility.
