The ideal candidate will be a highly creative problem solver with a hands-on approach to design parts and assemblies to meet project requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Work with the Project Engineer to develop project scope, technical requirements, test plans, and timeline
- Create detailed 2D and 3D part and assembly designs using SolidWorks that meet design and manufacturability requirements
- Fabricate, assemble, and test designs to the project requirements. Effectively communicate feedback to the Project Engineer
- Host and facilitate design reviews with project stakeholders, incorporate feedback into technical designs
- Utilize 3D printing technologies, applying a Fail-Fast approach, to quickly troubleshoot and iterate designs to meet project timelines
- Contribute ideas/designs and make recommendations to improve products and/or tests conducted
- Draft assembly, operation, and maintenance manuals for equipment designed
- Provide training on the operation of designs as needed
Requirements:
- Associate degree in Engineering/Industrial Technology, CAD Design, related field or minimum 5 years related work experience
- Excellent technical creative problem solving and mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach
- Highly proficient at utilizing CAD software: SolidWorks or similar
- Willingness to take appropriate risks with an 80/20 phase solution mindset
- Self-managed, detail oriented, team-player with good written and oral communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds safely, and be able to work some outside
- Must have an understanding of safe work practices, proper handling of tools, electricity, etc.
- Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time for training, supplier visits, trade shows, etc
- Sense of ownership and pride in one’s work and contribution to the team
- 2+ years in an innovative machine design environment
- Experience operating within ePDM vault approval workflow system.
- Basic understanding of engineering drawing GD&T
- Experience with sheet metal design and fabrication
- Understanding of machining principles; manual or CNC, experience in Mastercam a plus
- Experience designing machinery with automation components: pneumatics, linear and rotary motion
- Familiarity with PLCs/VFDs
- Experience in manufacturing or production plants
- Direct mechanical trade experience (Machinist, HVAC, Mechanic, Construction, Furniture or Cabinet Making, etc)
