Job Description (General Summary)

Intralox is actively seeking a dynamic and self-motivated Field Technician with strong technical skills. This pivotal role involves executing optimization services on material handling equipment, encompassing field installations and audits. Candidates should possess a robust mechanical background to deliver technical support for conveyance systems. Given the travel demands of the position, it is open to individuals located anywhere within the United States, with reasonable access to an airport.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage and perform mechanical and electrical assembly, installation, and commissioning of equipment.
  • Train customers to operate, maintain and optimize equipment performance.
  • Provide warranty support by diagnosing failures, ordering parts and affecting repairs and replacements.
  • Provide insightful technical feedback to the Company’s Engineering and R&D departments to improve equipment performance and value.
  • Troubleshoot and correct problem installations or applications in the field.
  • Find solutions on-the-fly and determine/communicate opportunities. 
  • Inspect conveyors to gather detailed technical information on opportunities for improvement. 
  • Communicate belt and conveyor recommendations verbally and in written reports 
  • Arrange and execute efficient travel on short notice, including nights and weekends. 
  • Maintain the professional appearance of equipment and work area.
  • Air travel required, reasonable access to regional airport.  
  • Relentless self-evaluation, continuous improvement, and striving for improved customer touches. 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3+ years of work experience as a mechanical or electrical technician
  • Strong mechanical background, ideally with experience in processing or conveying equipment. 
  • Ability to travel extensively (70%) both domestically and internationally and work weekends, holidays as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers.
  • Ability to work within a team environment including subcontractors.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to set priorities, utilize and coordinate resources, and manage visits from start to finish with little supervision.  
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills 
  • Computer proficiency, including demonstrated experience with Microsoft products
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturer’s drawings and manuals to “self-teach” new technology.
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills
  • Positive, confident outlook with an entrepreneurial, problem-solving personality
  • Ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and stand, kneel and squat on a repetitive basis.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Technical degree (electrical/mechanical/automation).
  • Experience with material handling equipment.
  • Strong electro-mechanical skills (electrical panels, motors, drives and networks), experience with industrial control systems.
  • Ability to MIG weld.
