The primary role of this position is to manage the detailing engineers in Shanghai. This person will collaborate with various internal engineering and operations teams to assist and resolve business needs and problems respectively. The Detail engineering supervisor will participate in strategic planning to set team goals, KPIs and individual goals to progress business initiatives forward. The Detail Engineering Supervisor will report to functional manager, APAC Engineering Manager.
- Detailing engineer group work with engineering teams over the globe to deliver 2D drawings for different kinds of components.
- This role is a key member of 2D CAD template matter subjects.
- Ensure department members have good understanding of the process and requirements on their deliverables.
- As this position is a working supervisor, you will be also handling engineering tasks.
Responsibilities:
Productivity & Operational Excellence
- Oversee day-to-day activities across the detail engineering team, drive efficiency and identify capacity gaps proactively.
- Identify and resolve issues timely.
- Connect and cooperate well with other Intralox engineering managers, ensure smooth communication and collaboration.
- Drive operational improvements that increase customer value and / or reduce company costs.
- Define and monitor Critical Success Factors (CSFs) and KPIs for detailing team functions.
- Define standard workflows and processes, ensure right procedure is followed.
- Drive standardization with engineering deliverables, e.g. BOM, Drawings.
People Management & Development
- Develop a high-performance team in a fast-growing environment, with shared/aligned goals and consistent performance management practices.
- Enabling skill development through training & coaching for individuals within the department.
- Developing &/or recruiting talent in the dept.
- Accelerate knowledge of products, policies, and procedures and the quality of deliverables.
- Conducting individual performance planning and performance evaluation sessions.
- Ensuring coverage with staff schedule, including work hours, vacation, sick/personal leave.
- Exemplify our culture and LCI principles
- Developing your own leadership skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Proven affinity with an industrial, manufacturing and engineering business environment.
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory/management experience. Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to set/adopt a vision and then execute it with the team
- Proven track record of excellent teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated problem solving and issue resolution skills, strong organizing and planning abilities.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with fabrication methods
- Strong knowledge with ANSI / ASME, GB, DIN, ISO specifications that are relevant to drawings.
- Strong knowledge in conveyor systems is a plus.
- Aptitude in MS Office applications and PLM.
- Native Mandarin Chinese and fluent English (speaking, reading & writing).
