The Opportunity
As part of our ongoing growth and focus on delivering best-in-class equipment solutions, we are looking for a Controls Engineer to join our Global Equipment Engineering team in Shanghai.
In this role, you will design and develop advanced control systems for conveyor and automation equipment used by leading companies in logistics, material handling, and consumer goods. You’ll work on high-visibility, technically challenging projects with real global impact—collaborating with international teams and directly contributing to customer success.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the electrical and controls portion of Intralox solutions from concept engineering to implementation in the field. Explore and develop innovative control systems that enhance the functionality and value of Intralox equipment.
- Program and configure PLCs and HMIs such as Siemens, Allen Bradly or Beckhoff, for conveyor line control systems that include field devices such as sensors, encoders, barcode scanners, cameras, step motors, power rollers
- Perform tests and simulations on software and hardware.
- Review wiring diagrams, schematics, and control architectures to ensure quality and compliance.
- Create clear technical documentation and training materials for internal teams, customers, and partners.
- Offer remote and on-site hands-on with project commissioning and troubleshooting of field installations with some project work taking place outside of regular working hours
- Collaborate with global teams to deliver safe, high-quality, on-time solutions.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, or related area
- Able to configure PLCs, HMIs, networks, sensors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and other control system components. Comfortable using hand tools when needed.
- Working knowledge of platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff, including ladder logic and structured text.
- Understanding of HMI platforms and industrial communication protocols, including Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, CANOpen, and EtherCAT.
- Familiar with AutoCAD Electrical/Inventor for control circuit development.
- Understanding of industrial control circuit design and advanced electrical & mechanical engineering concepts. Experience with electrical regulations and willingness to stay updated on global machine design standards.
- Software programming and simulation experience in industrial automation would be considered a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese, with the ability to collaborate across teams and interact with customers.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for site installation, training, commissioning, and troubleshooting, including flexibility for occasional off-hours support.
- A proactive, analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
