Job Responsibilities and Requirements
What you’ll do:
- Develop and harmonize HMI standards, screen layouts, navigation structures, dashboards, and reusable templates to create a more intuitive and consistent user experience across equipment projects
- Improve the usability and clarity of operator-facing interfaces to help customers and operators interact with equipment more effectively, with less training and less ambiguity
- Test and validate automation software releases to ensure customer-facing updates improve functionality without negatively affecting existing systems
- Build scalable QA/QC methods, documentation, and release-readiness processes to support reliable, repeatable, and high-quality software delivery
- Support lifecycle ownership of software updates, feature releases, supplier changes, and obsolescence topics to help maintain sustainable and customer-relevant automation platforms over time
- Work closely with automation engineers and cross-functional stakeholders in Europe and the US to solve issues structurally and support greater global platform consistency
- Support code development in different software environments to contribute to stronger engineering practices and more robust automation deliverables across the organization
What you bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Automation/Controls Engineering, or a related field
- 0–2 years of experience, or relevant exposure through internships, co-ops, coursework, or hands-on projects; candidates with more experience are also welcome
- Familiarity with software QA/QC, structured testing, validation, release readiness, or DevOps-style ways of working
- A foundational understanding of industrial automation systems and how HMIs are used to operate equipment
- Exposure to HMI/SCADA tools, operator interface design, or UX/UI principles
- Strong communication skills, learning agility, and the ability to work effectively in a self-managed, cross-functional team
- A valid passport and willingness to travel occasionally
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, release workflows, version control, Git, or change management
- Familiarity with industrial HMI/SCADA and visualization tools such as Optix, CODESYS Visualization/WebVisu, Ignition, Siemens WinCC, WinCC Unified, TIA Portal HMI, Rockwell FactoryTalk View, or Node-RED
- Understanding of high-performance HMI principles, IEC 61131-3 programming concepts, industrial communication protocols, or data tools such as OPC UA, Modbus, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, MQTT, datalogging, historians, trending, reporting, or SQL-based tools
